  was a child when he moved with his parents to Erie Co. N.Y. It was there that he received his limited schooling. The daily walk to and from school was over a stretch of eight miles so that the boy did not have more than very limited advantages in this line. Shortly after they married, they moved to Atlas, Mich., then later to Groveland, but returned to Atlas after 4 years.
