2. | Thomas Jr. GOBLE was born about 1631 in England (son of Thomas Sr. GOBEL and Alice); died on 22 Oct 1690 in Concord, Mass, USA; was buried in Concord, Mass, USA. Notes:
November 2, 1997 - Received information from Madeline Dodd regarding the daughter of Ralph and Alice Mousall. She says: 'You have the 2nd Wife of Thomas Goble as Mary Mousall. This is not true. This is a misunderstanding arising from the fact that Ralph Mousall's will names his 'daughter Mary Gove' and that has been misinterpreted as Mary Goble. In actual fact, he had a foster daughter named Mary Gove...who is the person named in the will and there is no connection to the Goble family.' Mrs. Dodd has provided the following reference: clarification appeared in NEHGS 'Register', v. 99, January 1945, p. 77....(and based on NEHGR No. 7, p. 170) in will of John Gove of Charlestown, dated 22 1647/8, which says 'I do give & bequeath with my wife's full consent, my daughter Mary GOVE to Ralph Mousall & his wife , as their own child, forever', and he included a silver porringer and 5 pounds to pay her way...the probable explanation (according to the article) is that the mother had periodic attacks of mental illness (as did her son Edward Gove) and that twin children of her second marriage to John Mansfield were also 'put out'. The major thrust of the article was actually to explain the 'daughter' Ruth Wood, who turned out to be a granddaughter.
Thomas married Mary about 1668. Mary was born about 1635 in 1692.; died on 8 Dec 1731 in Concord, Mass, USA; was buried in Concord, Mass, USA. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
