NOTE: Thomas Vantine came from Niagara Co., New York, in 1836, and settled on Sec.33 Atlas Twp., Genesee Co. Michigan, close to the line between Genesee and Oakland Counties. He was accompanied by his wife, one son, and one daughter. Two other children stayed in New York for sometime, and came afterward to Michigan. Two of his children -- sons John T. and Peter -- are now living, the former in Groveland, the latter near Goodrichville, Atlas Twp., Genesee Co.
Thomas Vantine was b. June 19, 1786, and is now living with his son, John T. Vantine, in Groveland. Although not a settler of Oakland Co., his is one of the first who located in Genesee, there being but two other families in the neighborhood when he came.
Owing to convulsive fits, he was exempt from all military duty during the war of 1812, although he was 26 years of age when war was declared. His father was a native of Holland, and came with his two brothers to Amerca at an early date. Their ancestors were very wealthy citizens of Holland, and owned seventeen acres in the heart of the Hague, one of its principal cities.

Notes for Gordon Francis Parnell Morcom:
Gordon was originally married to Kathleen Joyce Emmett "Joy" after the war. After six years of marriage and three children, Joy died in child birth with Sandra Gail Kathleen Morcom. Because Gordon felt he could not raise this small baby, and the fact that she had lived and Joy had died we feel entered into the equation at the time. Gail was adopted as a baby to May and Fred Preece. They were very good friends and wanted Gail for thier own. She lived a very good life with the Preece family and always kept contact with her natural father throughout her life. The Preece family also lived in the Ponoka area. After Joy died and Gordon has these three other three small children to raise, Joy's sister Mary came from England to assist in the care of the children and Gordon. In 1949 they were married and continued to parent the children together. It is worth noting that Barry was Mary's natural child with Gordon. | MORCOM, Gordon Francis Parnell (I30347)

Notes for Ronald Francis Morcom:
Ronald was jailed from May 26, 1993 to September 24, 1993 for the child abuse of his granddaughter Kyleen. He always maintained he was faulted but I, Loreen, believe because of what I had seen over the years that he was guilty and had a just sentence. Ron began to drink more and lost his will to live and was quite difficult until his death in 1995. | MORCOM, Ronald Francis (I30367)

November 2, 1997 - Received information from Madeline Dodd regarding the daughter of Ralph and Alice Mousall. She says: 'You have the 2nd Wife of Thomas Goble as Mary Mousall. This is not true. This is a misunderstanding arising from the fact that Ralph Mousall's will names his 'daughter Mary Gove' and that has been misinterpreted as Mary Goble. In actual fact, he had a foster daughter named Mary Gove...who is the person named in the will and there is no connection to the Goble family.' Mrs. Dodd has provided the following reference: clarification appeared in NEHGS 'Register', v. 99, January 1945, p. 77....(and based on NEHGR No. 7, p. 170) in will of John Gove of Charlestown, dated 22 1647/8, which says 'I do give & bequeath with my wife's full consent, my daughter Mary GOVE to Ralph Mousall & his wife , as their own child, forever', and he included a silver porringer and 5 pounds to pay her way...the probable explanation (according to the article) is that the mother had periodic attacks of mental illness (as did her son Edward Gove) and that twin children of her second marriage to John Mansfield were also 'put out'. The major thrust of the article was actually to explain the 'daughter' Ruth Wood, who turned out to be a granddaughter. | GOBLE, Thomas Jr. (I1628)
