- 1851 census - recorded as aged 3. 1861 census - aged 8 as a scholar. 1871 birth cert of Harriet records him as a Seaman RN on board Narcissus. At time of marriage on HMS Cambridge. The PRO register of seaman's service records his attestation number as being #52535, he enlisted in 1862 having been born in Plymouth in 1848. At the time of their marriage one of the witnesses was a John Mooney; there is a John Mooney on 1871 census at 6 Buckland Terrace, Plymouth [1]
