Notes |
- When the late Thos. Oxely arrived from England, he met Mr. Ford, and beholding his stature remarked, "What a fine specimen for one of the Queen's life Guards." he sailed for four years, from the age of 18, and was an excellent hand from his strength and commanding voice. Lumber and staves being the chief traffic and the vessels loaded by scows.
In 1838, he purchased lot 6, N.M.R., now owned by Daniel Blue, and on part of which his widow still lives.
