- #1-Cause of death: Auricular Fibrillation. Dr: S.L. Gabby. Place of death: 810 Oak Street. Lot 31 sect 12. Obituary of MARCIA WOODWARD MINK Mrs. Marcia (Woodward) Mink, 85 years old, a resident of the Elgin region and the widow of Leander F. Mink, a pioneer Kane county farmer, died at 4 this morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Edward C. Affeld, 810 Oak Street, with whom she had resided for several years. She had been ill for a day with pneumonia. Mrs. Mink was stricken blind a year ago, and had been an invalid since that time, but this condition had not altered her cheerful outlook upon life. Born in Kaneville on Feb. 10, 1853, Mrs. Mink was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert R. Woodward, who came to Kane county, by covered wagon from New York state. In the early 60's the Woodwards settled in Dundee, where Mrs. Mink's father gave instruction in instrumental and vocal music for a number of years. On March 11, 1874 Mrs. Mink and her husband were married in Dundee, and for many years thereafter made their home on farms in that vicinity and near Elgin. Mr. Mink died 15 years ago. Mrs. Mink was a member of the First Baptist church in Elgin and had been active in that congregation for more than 50 years. She is survived by six children, Mrs.Affeld, Mrs. A. L. Harbison of Tulsa, OK; Mrs. R.L. Hood of Groton, SD; Percy L. Mink of Hollwood, CA; and Monte F. Mink and Loren J. Mink of Elgin; 24 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Frank Hatch of Elgin; a brother, Robert Woodward of Oakland, CA; and a sister, Mrs. Frank Hauser of Fresno, CA. Besides her late husband, Mrs. Mink was preceded in death by two sons, Robert and Earl, and a daughter, Mrs. George S. McQueen, who lost her life two years in an automobile accident. The funeral service will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from the Wait-Ross-Allanson funeral church, with the Rev. Dr. Sidney W. Powell, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral church. THE ELGIN DAILY COURIER-NEWS - FRIDAY, APRIL 1, 1938 [1]
