    Carl Landon Mink, 78, of 364 Jewett Street, Elgin, died Sunday in Sherman Hospital, Elgin, following a brief illness. Born in Elgin April 23, 1892, he was the son of Charles R. and Minnie Maxwell Mink, and had lived in Elgin all his life. He was a retired employee of the Elgin National Watch Co. and was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church and the Valley Golden Agers Club. Surviving are three sons, Robert J. of Dundee, Allan R. of Elgin, and George A. Mink of Ann Arbor, MI; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Wauchope of Elgin and Mrs. Edwin (Nina) Steffan of Carpentersville; two brothers, Orville of South Elgin and Walter of Pelican Lake, WI, and 13 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen F., in 1962; one son, William D.; two brothers, Marvin and Howard, and one sister, Gertrude Doiel. Funeral services will be at 2:30 Tuesday in the Schmidt Funeral Home, with Rev. Elmer Dickson officiating. Burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery, Elgin. Friends may call in the funeral home after 7 this evening. A memorial has been established for the Epworth United Methodist Church. Reber Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.     CARL LANDON MINK Carl Landon was born at Elgin April 23, 1892. He worked at the Elgin National Watch Company most of his life. (44 years) At 25 he married Ellen Florence Johns on June 14, 1917, at Elgin. Ellen was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (James) Johns. She was born December 27, 1895 at Elgin, Illinois. Ellen and Carl had four sons, all born at Elgin: Robert John, born August 10, 1918, married July 5, 1950, Lillian Bican, at Algonquin, McHenry Co., IL; William Donald, born July 3, 1922, died September 23, 1926, at Elgin; Allan Richard, born april 16, 1926, married first Barbara Jean Ludwig, June 19, 1948 at Elgin, second Beverly Ann (Baker) Kelley, June 5, 1964 at Elgin; and George Arthur, born June 8, 1931, married August 19, 1956, Marjorie Simpson, at Hinsdale, DuPage Co., IL. The family lived at 364 Jewett Street in Elgin. They were all active members of the Epworth United Methodist Church, Carl having sung in the chior most of the time of his membership. (his step-mother was a charter member) In later years he was also active in the Valley Golden Agers Club. Ellen died August 26, 1962 of heart failure and Carl December 27, 1970 of the same.     OBITUARY OF HOWARD ROBERT MINK

    Howard Robert Mink, 70, of 625 Washburn Street, died unexpectedly today in his home. An Elgin resident for 65 years, he was born September 5, 1895, in Martinstown, MO, a son of Charles and Minnie Maxwell Mink. He was a retired employee of Elgin National Watch Company and a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Elgin Post 57, American Legion. Surviving are the widow, Stella F.Pearson Mink; two sons, Donald H. and Earl M., both of Elgin; six grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Barry (Gertrude) Doiel of Hamburg, IA, Mrs. Irene Wauchope of Elgin and Mrs. Edwin (Nina) Steffan of Carpentersville; three brothers, Carl of Elgin, Orville of South Elgin, and Walter of Pelican Lake, WS. A brother, Marvin, preceded him in death. Services will be held at 10 Wednesday in the Stout Funeral Home the Rev. William H. Clark, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
